Mbongi ya Ubuntu is a community of WanaUbuntu (Africans) grounded in the Nguzo asaa; Umoja, Kujichagulia, Ujima, Ujamaa, Nia, Kuumba, lmani, which are the essence of Ubuntu, reclaiming Our Way of Ubuntu and liberating ourselves from foreign subjugation. All members commit to practicing the Nguzo asaa in their daily lives, knowing that each one must practice their skills in service to the community to nurture and sustain our collective well-being. Mbongi ya Ubuntu intends to break away from exploitative capitalist economic practices and build a collective means of sustaining the well-being of all community members and the environment around us.
Reclaiming our language of Unity, KiUbuntu (erroneously known as Kiswahili) is a big part of reclaiming Our Way of Ubuntu.Mbongi ya Ubuntu has realized that Kiswahili is a word that came from the maafa the Arabs of the Omani Empire brought upon Our Motherland in the 600s AC. The children the Omani bore with the aboriganals of the Mashariki area of Our Motherland were referred by their fathers as the Swahili Peoples. Supporting the false narrative that Our Language of Union begun with these peoples it was therefore named KiSwahili.
Mbongi ya Ubuntu believes that we are WanaUbuntu, the children of the Way of Ubuntu. If this is the case, we believe our Language of Unity as WanaUbuntu should be KiUbuntu. This is the language that will be all encompassing and inclusive of all Ubuntu tongues, with the addition of the tongues in the Northern and Western regions of the Land of Ubuntu.
