November 2023, China announced the development of the world's fastest internet, with a 1.2 terabit per second (Tbps) network. This is 10 times faster than the internet speeds of its closest competitors, the US and South Korea.
The network is a 3,000 kilometer optical fiber cable that connects Beijing, Wuhan, and Guangzhou. It was developed by Tsinghua University, HUAWEI (Now does it make sense why U.S wants them gone or to control) and China Mobile. The software and hardware used in the system were domestically produced, including a superfast router developed by the FITI project leader's team.
